Lady Railsplitters Put Four On Preseason All-SAC Women's Soccer Teams

HARROGATE, TN - According to the South Atlantic Conference office in Rock Hill, South Carolina, the Lincoln Memorial University women's soccer team had four members selected to the 2010 Preseason All-Conference Women's Soccer First and Second Teams. The teams were chosen by the sports information directors throughout the league.
Named to the preseason first team was Lady Railsplitter midfielder Leanne Reid (Aberdeen, Scotland). Reid, only a junior, was third on the team last season in goals scored (3) while helping the LMU women's program to a 7-8-3 record. Reid's efforts were strong enough that coaches throughout the league awarded her first team all-conference status following the 2009 season.
The Lady Railsplitters were represented in force on the Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team. Seniors Becky Thompson (Frederick, MD) and Raquel Abrile (Campinas, Brazil) joined junior teammate Sarah Taylor (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) to round out the host of Lady Railsplitters that received preseason honors.
Taylor, a two-year starter for the Lady Railsplitters, led the team in scoring last season with 13 goals while handing out four assists from her midfield position to rank second in that category. Thompson, a forward and three-year starter, was second on the team in goals scored with 10 and led the team in assists with six. Having played her first season for LMU last year, Abrile started in 13-of-14 matches in the defensive backfield and was a second team All-South Atlantic Conference honoree following the 2009 season.
The 2010 Lady Railsplitters open the season September 2 when they play host to Young Harris College at home on the LMU soccer field. First touch for the match is set for 5:00 p.m.
