Railsplitters Lead After Opening Day of Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – Led by junior Eric Kennedy’s pace-setting three under par 68, Lincoln Memorial leads the Anderson Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament by three shots over Wingate and Tusculum following the opening round Monday afternoon at the par 71, 6,402 yard Anderson Country Club in Anderson.
Kennedy’s effort leads Tusculum senior Lawson George (70) by two strokes, with a group of four golfers just four shots off the lead and another set of four clustered five behind the leader heading into Tuesday’s final round.
The Railsplitters’ Cory Talley sits four shots off the pace to give LMU two of the top three scores of the day as LMU carded a 293, while Wingate’s David Crawford posted a one-over to also grab a share of third and teammates Brian Denton (73) and Randy Brill (73) grabbed a share of seventh, with the Bulldogs in a tie for second with Tusculum at 296.
Pfeiffer (301) is eight shots off the lead, while St Andrews Presbyterian is fifth with a 307. North Greenville (309) sits in sixth, with Limestone (313), Lenoir Rhyne (320), Erskine (320) and Anderson (321) rounding out the field.
The teams are back on the course for final-round action with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
