Railsplitters Move To 3-0

Box Score

BRISTOL, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team moved to 3-0 Wednesday evening when it took a 1-0 win over host team King College in Bristol, Tennessee.

The only goal of the match was scored in the 5th minute when senior forward Jimmy Vandenhurk (Walland, TN) found the back of the net with help from teammate Mackenzie Wilde (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) to give the Railsplitters the 1-0 advantage.

Despite 11 total shots for the match, four or which were stopped by LMU goalkeeper Michael Watkins (Statesville, NC), the Railsplitter defense held fast and recorded it's second shutout of the season while the LMU offensive attack placed six shots on frame.

This weekend, the LMU men travel to Newberry, South Carolina to open the South Atlantic Conference schedule when they take on the Scarlet and Gray of Newberry College.  Saturday's match will follow the Lady Railsplitter's meeting with Newberry and is set to get underway at 4:00 p.m.
