Lady Railsplitter Golf Finishes Third At Tusculum Fall Classic

GREENEVILLE, TN -- LMU's Brittany McCown finished tied for second and the Lady Railsplitter golf team finished third in the Tusculum Fall Classic. LMU finished with a 610, which was eight strokes behind tournament champion Belmont Abbey and seven behind UNC Pembroke.
McCown's (73-75=148) second place finish is a career-best for the sophomore. Junior Maria Stapleton finished eighth with 77-74=151, while senior Kristen Wolff finished 11th with 76-78=154. Desta Coaker finished tied for 13 with 76-81=157 and Whitney Ball finished tied for 37th with 85-86=171. Two Lady Railsplitters played as individuals: Rhoni Daikoff finished 48th with 96-83=179 and Megan Rutter finished 55th with 94-91=185.
LMU's third place finish was the best amongst the South Atlantic Conference teams in the tournament. Host Tusculum came in fourth with 633. Catawba (645) was fifth and Lenoir-Rhyne (656) finished sixth.
The Lady Railsplitters will next hit the links at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational in Myrtle Beach Oct. 4-5.
