Lady Railsplitter Golf Finishes Third At Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

SUNSET BEACH, SC -- LMU's Brittany McCown finished tied for fourth and the Lady Railsplitter golf team finished third in the Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. LMU finished with a 653, which was twenty strokes behind second-place UNC Pembroke. Tarleton State was the champion after shooting 614 for the tournament.
McCown's (77-78=153) third place finish marks the second consecutive tournament in which the sophomore has had a top five finish. Junior Maria Stapleton finished tied for fifteenth with 81-82=163, while Desta Coaker finished tied for 28th with 86-82=168. Senior Kristen Wolff finished tied for 42nd with 80-92=172 and Whitney Ball finished 58th with 92-87=179. Two Lady Railsplitters played as individuals: Rhoni Daikoff finished 48th with 96-83=179 and Megan Rutter finished 55th with 94-91=185.
LMU's third place finish was the best amongst the South Atlantic Conference teams in the tournament. Catawba (658) finished fourth, Carson Newman (665) finished 5th and Wingate (669) was sixth. Tusculum (670) was seventh, Anderson (671) was eighth and Lenoir-Rhyne (679) was ninth. Brevard (837) ended up in 16th and Mars Hill (839) was 17th.
The Lady Railsplitters will close out the fall portion of their schedule at the Catawba College Pasty Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C. Oct. 18-19.
