Three Railsplitters Earn NSCAA All-Region Honors

HARROGATE, TN - Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer players Lucas Pereira (Monte Siao, Brazil), Fernando Silveira (Brasilia, Brazil) and Michael Watkins (Statesville, NC) have been named as National Soccer Coaches of America All-Southeast Region honorees.
Pereira, a two-year starter and senior with the Railsplitter men's soccer prgram leads the trio. From his defensive position, Pereira helped the LMU men's soccer team record eight shutouts during the 2010 season while also tallying three goals and three assists for a total of nine points while helping to lead his team to a 10-6-1 season finish.
Fellow countryman and teammate Fernando Silveira was named to the NSCAA All-Southeast Region Second Team. As a sophomore, Silveira tied for second on the team in goals scored this year (4) while recording five assists for 13 combined points which was a team best this season.
Earning All-Southeast Region for the second consecutive season was Railsplitter junior goalkeeper Michael Watkins. Watkins was largely responsible for the Railsplitter's eight shutouts this year, starting in all 17 matches while loggin more than 1553 minutes in the net. For the season, Watkins allowed 17 goals in 17 matches for a 0.98 goals-against-average with 79 saves.
The Railsplitters return 19 lettermen from the 2010 team, including Watkins and Silveira when preseason practice begins in early August.
