Men's Golf Finishes Third At Shortened Outback Steakhouse Invitational

PANAMA CITY, FL -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team shot a 310 to finish third at the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Hombre Golf Club. Monday's opening round was rained out as the tournament was shortened to 18 holes.
Eric Kennedy and Jamie Chapman led the way for the Blue and Gray as they both shot 75 and tied for third. Joshua Cornett was four strokes behind with 79 and tied for 24th. Cory Bartlett was two strokes behind Cornett as he tied for 37th with an 81. Corey Talley rounded out the scoring for the Railsplitters as he finished tied for 43rd while shooting an 83.
Flagler won the tournament with 307 strokes, finishing one shot ahead of Central Alabama at 308. LMU was third, followed by King (311), Armstrong Atlantic (312), Columbus State (312), St. Edward's (316), Tusculum (319), Montevallo (323), Southern Wesleyan (328), Catawba (330), North Greenville (331), North Georgia (331), Cape Fear (333) and Lenoir-Rhyne (347).
Central Alabama's Christian Humber captured medalist honors with 73, one shot ahead of runner-up Greg Mergel of Flagler (74).
LMU will return to action on March 7-8 when they compete at the Richard Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, North Carolina.
