Hoffmann Named South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, SC -- Lincoln Memorial University's Philipp Hoffmann has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending February 15, announced conference officials Wednesday.
Hoffmann, a sophomore from Karlsruhe, Germany, went 3-0 at No. 1 singles to start the 2011 spring season, including a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory over Limestone's Miguel Lopez Zuniga, ranked as the 36th individual in the nation and 12th in the Southeast Region.He also posted straight-set singles victories against Oscar Pantoja from the University of the Cumberlands (6-0, 6-1) and North Greenville's Timur Kamilov (6-1, 6-2).
Hoffmann, the reining SAC Freshman of the Year, teammed with doubles partner Tom Goossens to go 2-1 in doubles play. The pair are ranked 29th nationally and 10th in the Southeast Region. They defeated Oscar Pantoja and Jerrid Neely from the University of the Cumberlands, 8-1, and Timur Kamilov and Luis Campos from North Greenville, 8-0, Their only loss was to Miguel Lopez Zuniga and Jordan Vicain from 35th-ranked Limestone, 4-8.
LMU will next hit the courts at Union on February 24.
