Railsplitters Tie For 5th Place In Anderson Invitational

HARROGATE, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team tied for fifth in the Anderson Invitational held recently at Bookstone Meadows Country Club in Anderson, South Carolina.
First-round leader Limestone and second-place Tusculum both shot 291 in the second round to allow the Saints to hang on for a one-shot victory. Limestone finished with a 36-hole total of 1-under 575 on the par-72, 6,685-yard Brookstone course, one shot better than Tusculum. Mount Olive was third in the 10-team field at 580, and host Anderson was fourth at 582, while St. Andrews Presbyterian and the LMU men tied for fifth with team scores of 588.
The LMU charge was led by newcomer Brad Neudorf (Virgil, Ontario, Canada) and Cory Talley (Newport, TN) who both tied for tenth place. Neudorf recorded rounds of 73 and 71 for a final 144, while Talley posted a pair of 72's to also finish with 144. Other Railsplitters finishing within the top-50 participants were Eric Kennedy (N/A) who finished in twenty-first place with rounds of 77 and 70 for a final 147, Cory Bartlett (Shanty Bay, Ontario, Canada) who placed thirty-sixth after rounds of 74 and 79 for a two-day total 153 and Josh Collins (Luttrell, TN) who finished forty-ninth with an 81 and an 82 for a final 163.
The Railsplitters' next match will take place October 13-14 at Pinecrest Golf Club in Bluffton, South Carolina. The event is the Queens Invitational and will be hosted by Queens College of Charlotte, North Carolina. The invitational is one of two remaining matches on the Railsplitters' 2008 fall schedule.
