Armstrong Atlantic Defeats LMU 13-1 In CSU Cougar Classic

COLUMBUS, GA -- The LMU softball team dropped their second game of the season as they fell to Armstrong Atlantic State 13-1 Friday afternoon in the 2011 Columbus State Cougar Classic.
AASU scored in the top of the first as April Jowers crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly from Shelby Duff.
LMU would answer in the bottom of the fourth as Brianna Mulkey scored from second when Taylor McGinnis hit an RBI double to center field.
Armstrong Atlantic then exploded in the top of the fifth, scoring 12 runs to go up 13-1 and pick up their sixth win of the season via the mercy rule.
The Lady Railsplitters were led by Mulkey, McGinnis and Jackie Adams, all of whom were 1-2 at the plate. McGinnis (0-1) also picked up her first loss of the season as she gave up 13 runs, 2 of which were earned, off of 11 hits.
LMU (10-2) will face AASU again tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. and will finish out the classic when they face Columbus State at noon.
