Lady Railsplitters Split SAC Series with Mars Hill
April 10, 2011
HARROGATE, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial University softball team recorded a senior day split with the Lions of Mars Hill College Sunday afternoon. With the split, the Lady Railsplitters move to 4-9 in South Atlantic Conference play and 23-19 overall.
This was senior day for the softball team as they honored Jackie Adams, Ashley Knight and Brittany Stuive before the first game.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning, LMU regained that run with an RBI-triple by Bridget Eicher in the bottom half of that innning. Mars Hill would take a 3-1 lead in the second inning with an RBI-single by Amanda McArthur.
Following two scores innings, Lincoln Memorial would assume the lead with a three-run fifth inning. Jackie Adams' two-RBI double powered that inning. Brianna Mulkey would score on a wild-pitch to conclude the scoring in that inning.
That lead would be sufficient for Katie-Jo Gentry as she shutdown Lions in the remaining innings and picked up the win. Gentry pitched all sevens innings and allowed only three earned runs. The Lady Railsplitters won game one by a score of 4-3.
