LMU Men's & Women's Golf Teams Both Finish 6th At Tusculum Fall Invitational

GREENVILLE, TN - On Monday and Tuesday afternoon, the Lincoln Memorial University men's and women's golf teams participated in the Tusculum College Fall Invitational held at Link Hill Country Club in Greeneville, Tennessee. Throughout the two-day event in which 23 men's and women's teams were competing, both Lincoln Memorial University golf teams placed 6th in their respective competitions.
In the men's flight, the Railsplitters shot a two-day total team score of 582, 14 strokes over par and good enough to tie for 6th place. Leading the way for the Railsplitters was Eric Kennedy (Powell, TN). Kennedy recorded rounds of 69 and 70 for a final 139 to finish three strokes under par for the tournament and tied for 5th place. Narrowly missing the top-10 was Railsplitter Cory Bartlett (Shanty Bay, Ontario, Canada) who posted rounds of 70 and 74 for a final 144, two strokes over and tied for 14th place. LMU's Josh Collins (Luttrell, TN) and Cory Talley (Newport, TN) both tied for 43rd place by finishing nine strokes over par. Collins turned in scores of 78 and 73 for a final 151, while Talley shot a 79 and a 72 for a two-day 151. LMU's Brad Neudorf (Virgil, Ontario, Canada) tied for 48th place with scores of 76 and 77 for a final 153.
In the women's flight, the Lady Railsplitters also placed 6th with a team score of 668. Kristen Wolff (Amherstburg, Ontario, Canda) was the top finisher for the LMU women with scores of 81 and 82 for a final 163. Wolff's two-day total helped her tie for 19th place overall, 19 strokes over par. Finishing closely behind was Lady Railsplitter Chelsea Boshears (Jackson, TN) who shot an 80 and an 84 for a final 164. Boshears tied for 20th in the tournament, 20 strokes over par. Lady Railsplitter freshman Maria Stapleton (White Pine, TN) placed 25th for the tournament with rounds of 85 and 81 for a 166, while Rhoni Daikoff (Orilla, Ontario, Canada) tied for 37th place with scores of 89 and 86 for a total 175. LMU's Sarah Pickel (Overland Park, KS) also finished 47th with rounds of 96 and 89 for a 185.
On October 6-7, the LMU men's B-Team will participate in the King College Tornado Invitational at Country Club of Bristol in Bristol, Tennessee. The Lady Railsplitters will travel to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina those same two days to participate in the Lenoir-Rhyne Intercollegiate hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne College at River Hill Golf Club.
