This was a game dominated and defined by defense. Both goalkeepers were outstanding as Patrick Milfeld of King College recorded seven saves. LMU goalkeeper Michael Watkins topped that performance as he stopped eleven shots without allowing a goal.
The best scoring opportunity for either team came in the 107th minute as Milfeld was booked with a red card in the box, setting up the penalty kick for LMU's Leonardo Germniani. Germniani's kick would drift left outside of the goal post as the Railsplitters were unable to capitalize on the Tornado miscue.
The Railsplitters and Tornado would conclude the second overtime period at a 0-0 tie despite a combined 50 shots fired in the game.
LMU will look to build on this outing on September 14th as they travel to Belmont, North Carolina to take on Belmont Abbey. That game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
