Railsplitters Tied for 17th Place After First Round of Queens Invitational

BLUFFTON, SC - The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team stands in 17th place after Monday's first round action of the Queens Invitational Golf Tournament held at Pinecrest Country Club in Bluffton, South Carolina.
Originally the first round was set for Sunday but was postponed due to heavy rains in the South Carolina area. On Monday, the LMU men joined competitors from 18 other institutions for the first round of play and shot a combined team score of 314 to complete the first day's play in 17th place, 30 strokes behind leader Lander University who turned in a team score of 284, good enough for 1st place.
For the Railsplitters, Corry Talley (Newport, Tennessee) has carried the effort. Talley finished the first day's action with a score of 75, three strokes over par to finish tied for 26th place. Brad Greenside (Barrie, Ontario, Canada) wasn't far off the pace, shooting a 76 on the first day to place 34th, while Cory Bartlett (Shanty Bay, Ontario, Canada) turned in a 78 to complete the first day's action in a tie for 54th place. Eric Kennedy (Powell, TN) closed out the first day with a score of 85 to place 80th, while Josh Collins (Luttrell, TN) was disqualified.
Second round action of the tournament continues on Tuesday and the Railsplitters will be looking to move up in the pack of 18 teams. Following Tuesday's action, the Railsplitters have only the LMU Fall Invitational which will be held October 22-23 before closing out the fall schedule. As usual, the event will be played at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, Tennessee.
