Men's Soccer Tops Catawba 1-0

SALISBURY, NC -- Lincoln Memorial University scored the lone goal midway through the first half and defeated host Catawba 1-0 in South Atlantic Conference men’s soccer action on Saturday night at Frock Field. The win improves LMU to 9-4-2 overall and 4-1 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 3-11 and 1-5.
Felipe Nougeira (Uberaba, Brazil) got the winning goal, scoring off a free kick from 25 yards out at the 23:32 mark. That goal would stand up as Railsplitter keeper Michael Watkins (Statesville, NC) turned away four Tribe shots on goal.
LMU held a 16-6 edge in shots. Catawba keeper Tyler Held (Virginia Beach, VA) recorded seven saves. The game was a physical battle with the team combining for 47 fouls with the Indians leading that category with 27.
