Carson-Newman Gets By LMU 1-0

JEFFERSON CITY, TN -- The LMU women's soccer team was not able to overcome an early goal and fell to arch-rival Carson-Newman 1-0 Wednesday night.
The Lady Eagles struck first in the 13th minute of the game when sophomore Morgan Gruenenfelder (Sweetwater, TN) finished a corner kick from freshman Lydia Wright (Nashville, TN) with a one touch placement.
LMU came out strong in the second half outshooting the Lady Eagles 14 to 10. Carson-Newman played a defensive battle to pull out the South Atlantic Conference win. The Lady Railsplitters were led by keeper Denise De Resende (Taguatinga, Brazil) with four saves on the night. Carson-Newman's Lauren MacKenzie (Barrie, Ontario) tallied eight saves.
LMU will next play the second of three consecutive SAC road matches when they travel to Catawba on Saturday.
