Railsplitters Snag Fifth-Consecutive Top-Three Finish At Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, NC -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team picked up their fifth-consecutive top-three finish, as they finished the Pinehurst Challenge at National Golf Club in second place. The two-day tournament was completed on Tuesday in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
LMU finished with a two-day total of 600 (+23) which put them one stroke out of first place finisher, Lenoir-Rhyne University. Senior Eric Kennedy and freshman Braden Gaylon led the way for the Railsplitters with two-day totals of 149 (+5) to finish in a tie for second place. Junior Jamie Chapman notched rounds of 74 and 76 to finish +6 for the tourney and in a tie for eighth place. Joshua Cornett fired a two-round total of 152 (+8), good for a tie in 13th place.
Luke Butler completed team play for the Railsplitters with a total of 161 (+17) to end in a tie for 45th place. In individual play, Johnny Page fired a 152 (+8) to finish in a tie for 13th place. Tyler Davis finished one off of Page's pace with a two-day total of 153 (+9) to grab a tie for 18th place.
Wingate University's Clifford Blanquicet grabbed medalist's honors with a two-day total of 148 (+4). The Railsplitters will be back in action on March 31st as they head down to Holston Hill Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee for the annual Tusculum/ LMU Match Play.
