Railsplitters Represented Heavily On All-South Atlantic Conference Teams
November 7, 2008

ROCK HILL, SC - The Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team made a strong showing on the 2008 All-South Atlantic Conference Teams that were released Thursday evening at the conference tournament banquet in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Named to the All-South Atlantic Conference First Team were freshman forward Willian Moura (Newtown, CT), sophomore midfielder Aaron McKenna (Birmingham, England) and junior defender Felipe Nogueira (Uberaba, Brazil).
Moura ranks second on the team this season in goals scored (6), first in assists (5) and ranks first in total points with 17. McKenna, one of the unsung heroes from the Railsplitters' national championship runner-up team a year ago scored two goals throughout LMU's first 19 games this season and handed out one assist. The two-year starter was most likely selected to the team by the conference head coaches for the little things he does for the team on the midfield that make the Railsplitter better as a unit. Also named All-SAC First Team for the second consecutive year was Felipe Nogueira. Although a defender, Nogueira scored four goals this season including three game-winners to help the Railsplitters to a 11-6-2 mark entering Friday's 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Semifinal match against Tusculum College.
Named to the All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team was freshman Railsplitter goalkeeper Michael Watkins (Statesville, NC). Throughout 19 matches this season, Watkins has spent 1,732.45 minutes in goal, while allowing 19 goals against, for a 0.99 goals-against-average with 80 saves and six shutouts.
On Friday, the No. 4 seed Railsplitters travel to Rock Hill, South Carolina for the Semifinals of the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament. LMU will be facing the No. 1 seed, cross-state rival Pioneers of Tusculum College. Friday's action gets underway at 6:00 p.m. with the winner advancing to Sunday's championship match which is slated for a 4:00 p.m. first touch.
