Eric Kennedy Takes Fourth-Place, Railsplitters Fall To Sixth At Food Lion SAC Championship

CONOVER, NC -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team struggled in the third and final round, as they fell three spots from day one to finish in sixth-place at the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship. Play was completed on Tuesday afternoon with 18 holes at the Jones Course at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, North Carolina.
Wingate University posted rounds of 292, 284 and 301 for an 877 total to roll to a 15 stroke victory in the Championship. Newberry College earned a second-place finish with rounds of 304, 299 and 289 to cap a 28 over par team performance. Carson-Newman College took third-place, 20 strokes off the pace set by Newberry College.
The Railsplitters posted rounds of 303, 312 and 309 for a total of 924 (+60), 47 strokes off of the score posted by Wingate University.
Senior Eric Kennedy put in a strong performance in his final SAC Championship, as he notched an even par round of 72 on the final day to take a tie in fourth-place. He finished seven over par for the tournament.
Jamie Chapman finished two strokes behind Kennedy in a tie for 10th place with rounds of 72, 77 and 76.
Joshua Cornett struggled in the final two rounds with a pair of 81's to finish with a total of 239 (+23) and in 31st place. Tyler Davis sat a stroke behind Cornett at the end of the Championship, posting rounds of 81, 79 and 80 for a tie in 32nd.
Braden Galyon rounds out the Railsplitters' squad, as he finished in a tie for 39th with outings of 80, 79 and 84.
Newberry College's Matthew Campbell took medalist honors with rounds of 69, 71 and 75, finishing at one under par for the Championship.
