Railsplitters Put Three Players On 2008 Daktronics All-Southeast Region Teams

HARROGATE, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team had three of its team members to earn Daktronics All-Southeast Region honors in the poll that was released on Tuesday morning.
Leading the way for the Railsplitters and earning all-region honors for the second consecutive year was LMU junior defender Felipe Nogueira (Uberaba, Brazil). Nogueira, a 6'0" three-year letter-winner scored four goals from his defensive position this season while helping the defending national runners-up finish the year with an 11-7-2 overall record and a trip to the conference tournament semifinals. Nogueira is now a candidate to receive his second consecutive All-American honors which will be voted upon and released later this month.
Named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region Men's Soccer Second Team were sophomore midfielder Aaron McKenna (Birmingham, England) and junior midfielder Renato Segalla (Santo Andre, Brazil). McKenna is one of the most improved players from a year ago, stepping into a leadership role this year for the Raisplitters squad on the midfield and for his intense offensive and defensive skills. McKenna tallied two goals and one assist this season.
Also named to the 2008 Daktronics All-Southeast Region Men's Soccer Second Team was Railsplitter newcomer Renato Segalla. Throughout the season, Segalla was an instrumental part of the Railsplitter's offensive attack and recorded seven goals and one assist in leading the LMU men to their final season mark of 11-7-2. A junior, Segalla will return next year for his final year of college eligibility when the Railsplitters begin their next quest for a South Atlantic Conference title.
The 2008 Railsplitter men's soccer team graduates three seniors from this year's squad and will begin the 2009 schedule in late August.
