Itinerary Set For The 2012 LMU Brazil Trip

HARROGATE, TN -- The final preparations have been made for the Lincoln Memorial University men's and women's soccer teams, as head coach Helio D'Anna has the itinerary set for the 2012 LMU Brazil Trip. The Lady Railsplitters and Railsplitters are scheduled to depart for Brazil on August 13th.

The trip extends from August 13th through the 19th and will serve as a major portion of the preseason training for the two squads. Every fourth season, the Lady Railsplitters and Railsplitters travel to Brazil for the unique opportunity to train at a variety of football clubs along with the chance for personal interactions with professional players and coaches.

The teams are staying in Braganca Paulista, located in Sao Paulo state, where they will lodge at Camp California throughout the week.

The men and women of LMU soccer have a full slate of training, competition and Brazilian culture on tap for their voyage. The itinarary for the week is as follows:

Day One (August 13th)-The extensive day of traveling begins as the team departs for Brazil with the bus pulling out of campus at 7:00 a.m.

Day Two (August 14th)-LMU is knotted to arrive in Sao Paulo at 6:25 a.m., nearly a full 24 hours after departing from Harrogate, and the schedule quickly begins to unfold. Following lunch at the camp, Lincoln Memorial University holds their first practice before heading into town for dinner.

Day Three (August 15th)-Following breakfast, practice and lunch at the camp, the men and women face their first competition as they take on Ponte Preta. After those two contests, they will settle in to watch a professional Division I game between Ponte Preta and Bahia. The evening concludes with dinner in the town for a taste of the local cuisine.

Day Four (August 16th)-LMU begins the day with the same routine before the second competition of their stay, as the men and women take on Bonfim FC. With the conclusion of those two games, the Lady Railsplitters and Railsplitters plan to head back to town for dinner.

Day Five (August 17th)-Breakfast, practice and lunch at the camp will be followed by men's and women's matches against Bragantino FC, the third competition slated for the Brazil trip. The night closes with a trip to the town for dinner.

Day Six (August 18th)-Following breakfast at the camp, the teams depart for Sao Jose as the men and women are set to square off against the Sao Jose FC. With the opportunity to take advantage of some down time, LMU will head to the Caraguatatuba Beach in Sao Paulo state for some sun, water and relaxation. After that full day, the two teams travel into Sao Jose for dinner.

Day Seven (August 19th)-On the last day, breakfast and lunch will be served at the camp before the men and women face the final competition of their stay, taking on several local teams throughout the area. Following those games, they depart to the airport for the return flight to Knoxville.

Aside from the schedule, the two squads have trips planned to local parks, mall and a number of other places to experience as much of the Brazilian culture as possible.
