HARROGATE, TN - Looking forward to building on the strong success of the past, LMU Head Soccer Coach Helio D'Anna has added two players to the 2009 roster. Ryan Beckner (Jefferson City, TN) and Fernando Silveira (Brasilia, Brazil) will be wearing the Blue and Gray next year.

Beckner is a 5'10" goalkeeper and played at nearby Jefferson County High School and Lakeway Soccer Club.  His honors include all-conference, all-district and all-region, as well as MVP and the Army Iron Man Award.  "Ryan is an extremelly athletic keeper and has cat-like reflexes," says D'Anna.  "He impressed everyone when we saw him.  His technique and athleticism completely overshaddow his size and he is very difficult to score on.  "Beckner is also an honor roll student and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.  He is the son of Rick and Paulette Beckner and intends to pursue a career in the medical field while attending Lincoln Memorial University.

Silveira is a 6'0 midfielder with a lot of experience.  He has played in the U-systems of the Brasiliense FC, Londrina FC and Goias FC and has accumulated many honors in his career.  His titles and accomplishments include Brasilia City Title, 4th place in the Brazilian National Title (under-17), Goias State Title and 3rd Place in the Ten Bbrinke Bown Tournament in Holland.  "Fernando will be a superb addition to the team," stated D'Anna.  "His posession is impecable, he is creative, strong and fast.  He could be a superstar right away and we are excited to have him coming to LMU."  The son of Alvaro and Maria Silveira, Fernando will pursue a degree in physical dducation and kinesiology while at LMU.
