Railsplitters Place 5th In Tusculum Invitational

HARROGATE, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team continued to show progress over the weekend as the Railsplitters traveled to Greeneville, Tennessee and placed 5th in the Tusculum College Invitational held at Link Hills Country Club.

The Railsplitters turned in a team score of 580, only 16 strokes behind eventual champion Coker College who finished with a team score of 564.  Also finishing just ahead of Lincoln Memorial University were Limestone College (570), host team Tusculum College (574) and Grand Valley State University (577).

Among the other 10 teams participating in the tournament, behind LMU in order of finish were Spartanburg Methodist Community College (593), Brevard College (594), Walters State Community College (596), Mars Hill College (596), University of Montevallo (600), Lenoir-Rhyne University (609), the Tusculum B-Team (612), Tri-County Community College (615), Tiffin University (622) and USC Lancaster Community College (630).

Leading the Railsplitter effort over the weekend was LMU's Brad Greenside.  Greenside turned in rounds of 67 and 75 for a two-day total 142, good enough to finish the tournament tied for 8th place, four strokes behind medalist Christopher Marsh of Coker College who recorded a total score of 138.  

Narrowly missing the top-10 was Railsplitter Cory Bartlett.  Bartlett shot a 70 and a 73 for a final score of 143 to tie for 11th place, while  teammate Eric Kennedy tied for 29th place with scores of 72 and 76 for a total two-day score of 148.

Finishing back in the field were Railsplitters Brad Neudorf and Josh Collins.  Neudorf turned in rounds of 77 and 74 and finished the tournament with a combined score of 151 to tie for 43rd place with Collins who shot a 79 and a 72.

The Railsplitter now have until March 16-17 to prepare for their next match.  LMU will take on several South Atlantic Conference opponents when they will travel to Crescent County Club in Salisbury, North Carolina to participate in the Chick-Fil-A Intercollegiate hosted by Catawba College.
