Women's Golf Team Finishes 7th At SAC Tournament

HARROGATE, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University women's golf team finished in 7th place of the South Atlantic Conference Golf Tournament held in Etowah, North Carolina.
The Lady Railsplitters turned in a team score of 1032 to finish behind champion Carson-Newman College (968), Wingate University who finished second (983), Catawba College who finished third (999), Tusculum College who came in fourth (1011), Newberry College who finished fifth with a score of (1020) and Lenoir-Rhyne University who placed sixth with (1022).
Finishing behind the Lady Railsplitters were Mars Hill College who shot a team score of 1107 and Brevard College who finished last with a final 1229.
Individually, Lady Railsplitter freshman Maria Stapleton (White Pine, TN) carried the LMU attack by finishing in tenth place overall. Stapleton turned in rounds of 77, 87 and 83 for a total 247, 31 strokes over par. Also finishing inside the top-20 was LMU's Chelsea Boshears (Jacksboro, TN). Boshears finished in nineteenth place overall with rounds of 80, 87 and 88 for a final 255.
Narrowly missing the top-20 was Lady Railsplitter sophomore Kirsten Wolff (Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada). Wolf scored rounds of 88, 83 and 81 to finish with a score of 262. LMU sophomore Rhoni Daikoff (Orilla, Ontario, Canada) also narrowly missed the top-20. Daikoff tied for thirtieth place with scores of 83, 87 and 89 for a final score of 268.
The Lady Railsplitters have three sophomore and four freshman returning next season as they lose none of their players to graduation. The LMU women's golf team will resume play in August when they return to campus for fall semester classes.
