Railsplitters Place Five On Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Teams

HARROGATE, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team was represented in strong fashion on Tuesday afternoon when the 2009 Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Teams were announced by the conference office in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Selected to the first team were Willian Moura, (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) a 6'1" senior forward who played his first season for the Railsplitters last year and Aaron McKenna, (Birmingham, England) a 5'9" junior who has been an anchor in the defensive backfield since joining the Railsplitters as a freshman two years ago when they finished as the NCAA Division II National Runner-up.  Moura scored six goals last season for the Railsplitters while contributing five assists for 17 total points, while McKenna hit the back of the net twice from his defensive position and handed out one assist.

Named to the Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference second team from the Railsplitter squad were senior midfielder Renato Segalla (Santo Andre, Brazil), senior defender Brito Martins (Sorocaba, Brazil) and sophomore goalkeeper Michael Watkins (Statesville, NC).  Segalla actually led the Railsplitters in scoring last season, finding the net on seven occasions while handing out one assist, while Martins scored six times and handed out three assists.  Watkins logged more than 1800 minutes in goal during his freshman season and recorded a 1.04 goals-against-average while helping the LMU men notch six shutouts and an 11-7-2 season record.

The Railsplitters are set to open the 2009 schedule August 27 when they play host to NAIA opponent Asbury College at 3:00 p.m..  The match will be a twin bill with the Lady Railsplitters who will play the final match of the afternoon against Asbury at 5:00 o'clock.
