Several Railsplitter Men's Tennis Players Do Well In ITA Regionals

HARROGATE, TN - Last weekend, LMU men's tennis players Hannes Ganss (Erlangen, Germany) Bastian Guenther (Erlangen, Germany) and Zack Jones (Murfreesboro, TN) traveled to Sumpter, South Carolina and competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Fall Regional Tourmanent held at Sumpter's Palmetto Tennis Center. This year's tournament consisted of men's and women's players from colleges and universities throught the southeast United States and was held as a three-day event.
Probably the most successful of the trio was Ganss. Ganss made it to the finals of the main flight consolation bracket. On the way, he recorded several big wins and his appearance in the finals marks the second time in as many weeks that Ganss has made it to the finals of the main draw consolation bracket.
Guenther lost in his first round in the tie-breaker first set and lost in the cosolation bracket in the super tie-breaker, while Jones made it to the semi-finals of the B-Flight consolation bracket before having to retire in the second set.
In doubles play, Guenther and Ganss won the first round of before being eliminated from contention for the championship match.
The Railsplitters now look forward to the Cumberlands Fall Classic to be played October 10 in Williamsburg, Kentucky. The event will be the finale of the 2009 fall schedule for the Railsplitters.
