Railsplitters Take First Place At Tornado Invitational

HARROGATE, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team took it's second first place finish on Tuesday when the Railsplitters concluded play at the Tornado Invitational hosted by King College at Country Club of Bristol in Bristol, Tennessee.
The Railsplitters finished ahead Milligan College, Union College and host team King College en route to their second first place finish of the 2009 fall schedule. LMU turned in a team score of 871, while Milligan College finished a close second place with 872. Union College came in third with 875 and King finished last with a team score of 890.
LMU's Jamie Chapman (Sussex, England) set the tone for the Railsplitters as he placed second overall rounds of 73, 67 and 71 to finish the tournament with a final score of 211 for three rounds of golf. Tying for third place was LMU's Cory Bartlett Shanty Bay, Ontario, Canada) who recorded rounds of 68, 71 and 73 for a final 212, while Railsplitter sophomore Eric Kennedy (Powell, TN) finished in sixth place with three rounds of 72 for a total 216. LMU's Dustin Louth (Washago, Ontario, Canada) also finished inside the top-10 by shooting a 74, a 71 and a 74 for a three round total 219.
Other Railsplitters participating in the tournament included Cory Talley (Newport, TN) who shot 77,72 and 76 to finish in a tie for fifteenth place with a score of 225, Kyle Warwick (Oak Ridge, TN) who shot rounds of 77, 80 and 68 to tie with Warwick for fifteenth place with a 225, Joshua Cornett (Mountain City, TN) who tied for seventeenth place with scores of 71, 77, and 78 for a final score of 226, Josh Collins (Luttrell, TN) who had rounds of 75, 79, 77 to finish tied for twentieth place with a final 231 and Bryon Tuttle (Harrogate, TN) who placed 29th with rounds of 80, 80 and 83.
The Railsplitters now have only this weekend's Maryville Invitational and the annual LMU Invitational to be held October 19-20 at Woodlake Golf Course in Tazewell, Tennessee before ending the 2009 fall schedule. The Maryville Invitational will get started on Friday in Maryville, Tennessee and will complete play this Saturday weather permitting.
