Railsplitter Men's Golf Team Takes Third Tournament Of Fall Schedule

ALCOA, TN - For the third time this fall, the Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team has captured the championship of a tournament in which there were participating. Most recently, the Railsplitters traveled to Maryville, Tennessee on Friday and Saturday and won the Maryville Invitational, by firing a two over par 290 in the final round to finish the tournament with a team score of 590 at Green Meadow Country Club in Alcoa, Tennessee.
Finishing behind the Railsplitters was Tennessee Wesleyan College who tallied a team score of 604 and host team Maryville College who turned in a 605 to take third place in the event.
Indivdually, Maryville's Trey Bridwell shot a final round four under par 68 to go along with his opening round 71 for a five under total, and then defeated Zach Cole (68-71) of Tennessee Wesleyan College in a one-hole sudden death playoff. Bridwell and Cole were later joined on the all-tournament team by 3rd place finisher Jeremy Carson (Maryville College - (75-70), 4th place Cory Bartlett (Lincoln Memorial University - (78-68) and 5th place Kyle Warwick of LMU - (76-71).
Other LMU players particpating in the tournament include, Jamie Champman who turned in scores of 76 and 72 for a two-day total 148 to finish tied for 7th place, Eric Kennedy who recorded rounds of 72 and 76 to tie for 7th, Joshua Cornett with two rounds of 75 for a final 150 and to place 10th, Josh Collins who shot rounds of 79 and 74 for a final 153, Nolan Butler who had scores of 77 and 79 to finish 14th with a 156 and Byron Tuttle who placed tied for 17th place with scores of 84 and 77 for a final 161.
The Railsplitters have only the LMU Fall Invitational next Monday and Tuesday before the fall schedule comes to a close. The Railsplitters resume the spring schedule February 2-3 at the Outback Open hosted by Catawba College in Panama City, Florida.
