LMU Soccer Signs Two
February 9, 2010
HARROGATE, TN - Lincoln Memorial University Head Soccer Coach Helio D'Anna announced this week the signing of two players for the 2010 fall season. Arthur da Silva and Chris Ruiz are the latest additions to the LMU men's soccer program.
da Silva, a 5'10" incoming sophomore midfielder/forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil, transfers to LMU from Universidade Paulista. "Arthur is very technical and aggressive," says D'Anna. "He is quick, crafty on the ball and very creative. His dribbling skills are very strong and he can playmake as well as score. He is also a very good athlete and will adjust to soccer in the United States with no problems."
Ruis, a 6'2" defender from Prince George, Maryland, played his first season of college soccer for Prince George Community College. "Chris played his high school soccer in Germany at Vilseck High School," says D'Anna. "He then attended Prince George Community College this year with great success. Chris' team was ranked no. 8 nationally among the junior college level and finished the year with a 14-2-1 overall record. His team was 2009 Maryland State JUCO Conference Champions. He is extremely strong and very athletic. For a big guy, he is also very skilled and can play from the back with comfort. He will be dominant in the air and will be difficult to get passes around."6
I'm very happy to have these two additions," states D'Anna. "We have such a strong group of returners and incoming players that we have a great deal of hope and confidence for the upcoming year. da Silva and Ruiz will join a Railsplitter men's soccer team that finished the 2009 season with a 10-5-1 overall record and a 6-1-1 conference mark. The Railsplitters will begin the 2010 season in late August.
