Railsplitters Add To 2010 Men's Soccer Roster
February 24, 2010
HARROGATE, TN - Lincoln Memorial University Head Soccer Coach Helio D'Anna continues to reload his soccer roster in preparation for the 2010 fall season.
On Wednesday morning, D'Anna announced the signing of Mackenzie Wilde (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) and Alex Monk (Epsom, England) as two of his latest additions to the Railsplitter men's soccer program.
Wilde, a 5'11" 150 lb. forward, comes to the Railsplitters after a stellar career at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Club career with the Toronto Lynx where he won numerous awards and championships. In 2009, while playing at the junior college level, Wilde was called to the Canadian U20 National Team to compete in the Francophone Games in Lebanon. Although he played only four games in junior college, Wilde scored three goals and tallied six assists. "Macca is very fast and resourceful," says D'Anna. "He is a constant offensive threat and moves all the time. His finishing skills and athleticism are superb and we are excited to have him with our program."
Monk, a 5'11" 155 lb. left midfield/defender comes to the Railsplitters after having played for Guilford College and having participated with senior amateur soccer in the Combined Counties Premier Division. Duing that time, Monk's teams won the District Cup with the Epsom Dodgers and represented schools at district athletics in 100m spring competition. "Alex is a good pick-up for the program," said D'Anna. "He is a true lefty which is always good to have and he can play a number of positions. He will do well at the flanks as well as in the center of the field for us."
These young men will join a Railsplitter men's soccer team that finished the 2009 season with a 10-5-1 season mark that included a 6-1-1 South Atlantic Conference record. The Railsplitters will report to campus in early August in preparation for the 2010 season schedule.
