GERMANTOWN, Tenn. – Lincoln Memorial University senior
Dominika Czudkova opened the 2018 NCAA Division II South Super Regional with a five-over par 77 on Monday at Germantown Country Club. That score was strong enough to put Czudkova in a nine-way tie for 21st place in the 66-player, 54-hole event that will determine the participants for the national finals later this month. (

In the first NCAA tournament round for an LMU women's golfer since 2002, Czudkova used some solid ball striking to post the lowest NCAA tournament round in program history, surpassing Anabel Fernandez's second-round 79 at Link Hills Country Club (2002). Czudkova failed to make a birdie but her scorecard was marred by only five bogies, with one occurring on her first hole and two coming on the final two holes of the day.
"It was really just a rough start and rough finish," Assistant Coach
Rachel Gray said. "She finished with a couple three putts and her three other bogies came from a chip and two putt. So if she wasn't hitting the green, she was having a tough look at par. In my opinion, that was the type of ball striking I've seen from Dom when she shoots under par. She was on her A game from tee to green."
Despite finishing without a birdie, Czudkova hit 11 of 18 greens in the round.
"She usually makes about three birdies per round," Gray said. "For tomorrow our goal is to get the same number of birdie looks, but to get more birdies to drop."
Barry's Tilda Larsson is leading the way after recording a four-under par 68, while West Florida's Paloma Vaccaro and Tampa's Kiira Riihijarvi are the only other players under par in the field following two-under par 70s. Nova Southeastern is leading the team competition with an eight-over 296, while Barry is second at nine-over par and Rollins is third at 15-over par.
The top three teams and the top three individuals not affiliated with a qualifying team will advance to the national finals May 16-19 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
Czudkova will begin the second of three 18-hole rounds at the South Super Regional at 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday back at Germantown Country Club.
