Jenny Michael was named as the fifth head coach of the LMU volleyball program in December 2010 and became the school's Senior Woman Administrator in the summer of 2011.
She came to LMU after a five year stint as the assistant volleyball coach at Troy University.
Before coming to Troy, Michael was an assistant coach at the varsity level and a head coach at the junior varsity level at Kent-Meridian High School in Kent, Washington, where she also taught mathematics.
Michael started coaching at the collegiate level as a graduate assistant at NCAA Division II and Peach Belt Conference power, Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah. She held the graduate assistant position from 2002 until 2004, when she was promoted to an assistant coach. In 2005, Michael was promoted to first assistant coach.
While at Armstrong Atlantic, the Pirates won the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship in 2002, and made three trips to the NCAA Tournament. Michael had an overall 83-21 record serving as an assistant coach at Armstrong Atlantic State University for four seasons.
Michael played volleyball for four years at Francis Marion University, another Peach Belt Conference institution. While playing at the Floreence, South Carolina school, Michael was named the team captain in 2000 and 2001. She was also named the team’s Most Valuable Player in 2000.
While at Francis Marion, Michael played two seasons under her future boss at Troy, Sonny Kirkpatrick.
As an athlete at Francis Marion, Michael was a member of the 1998 Patriot team that qualified for the NCAA Tournament and won the Peach Belt Conference championship the same season. The team advanced to the NCAA Division II Regionals that same season.
