Connell joined the LMU staff in the fall of 2011. She comes to the program by way of Roswell, Georgia, where she began playing fast pitch softball at the age of ten. During her four year career at Roswell High School, she won team MVP for four consecutive years while leading her team to the state finals in her junior season.
Following her high school career, Connell was recruited to play on Georgetown University's first Division I softball team. Connell had a major impact on building the new program as she was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 2009. She recorded the first no-hitter in the program's history against Gardner-Webb. She left Georgetown as the all-time leader in wins (43) and the single-season record holder for opponent batting average (.248).
Connell will work primarily with the pitchers as she has been pitching instructor since 2004. She most recently was working in Colorado where she worked full-time as a pitching instructor.
"I am so excited to begin my coaching career at LMU," stated Connell. "They have a great program here that I am proud to be a part of. I hope to be able to have a positive impact on the team and bring a little something new to the table. I’m looking forward to my first season coaching and can’t wait to get started."
